Terms & Conditions    (Huurvoorwaarden)

Daily hire charges include unlimited kilometres, road user charges, insurance and GST (15%).
All charges are calculated per calendar day. JUMBO is available at 9.00am on the day you commence your hire and must be returned by 5 pm at the termination of the hire, unless prior arrangements are made. Our campervan is not available for winter sport ski holidays.

Rental duration: For all rentals there is a minimum period of 14 days. Some hires may be subject to a relocation fee but all fees will be included in the quoted total price.
Deposit:  At time of booking a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total rental cost is payable. The final balance is due 21 days prior to commencement of the rental. If the balance is not received 21 days prior, we reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled.

Cancellation fees: If the cancellation is made 15 days or more prior to pick up date the hirer will be refunded 50% of the deposit paid. If the cancellation is made less than 15 days prior to pick up date no refund will be paid except for the pre-paid security bond.  Regretfully no refunds can be given for any unused portion of your holiday.

Payments: By direct bank transfer, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. All credit cards are processed through the PayPal merchant service and incur an additional 3% PayPal administration fee.

Change of vehicle: If, for reasons beyond our control, JUMBO is not available on the day of the rental commencement, we reserve the right to substitute a comparable vehicle at no extra cost to the client. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to any form of refund

Limit of liability during the rental period: In the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the hirer), our liability will be limited to a refund of the daily rental charge for the period the vehicle is not available.
If, as a result from an accident, the vehicle cannot be used for the remainder of the rental period, no refund can be claimed.
Any additional cost resulting from the accident e.g. alternative transport, accommodation, medical expenses etc....are the responsibility of the hirer.
We therefore strongly advise to have a comprehensive personal travel insurance to cover these expenses.

Procedures in case of an accident: At the accident scene the customer must:
1. Obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses.
2. Report the accident to police, regardless of estimated damage costs.
3. Not accept blame or insist the other party is at fault.
4. If possible, photograph damage to all vehicle(s) and registration number(s).
5. Phone the owner with the accident’s details within 24 hours.

Drivers License:  A valid, full (non-provisional) national driver license is required. Non-English language national driver licenses must be presented in conjunction with an official translation or valid international driver license. The minimum age is 25 years. Additional drivers must meet all Private Camper rental requirements and be available at the time of vehicle pick up and sign the rental agreement

Standard Insurance: Is included in the daily rates with an excess of $1000. There is no excess for broken windscreens, window glass and damaged tyres. If a new tyre is required advice from the owner has to be obtained. The campervan is also insured for 24-hour roadside assistance throughout NZ.
Note: Insurance does not cover hirer’s personal property.

Bond: A security bond of $1500 is payable before pick up to cover the liability in the event of any damage to the vehicle. The security bond will be included in the final balance payment.
The security deposit is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date.
This bond will be used if any damage or claim occurs and/or money deducted to cover expense due to: Camper returned in "dirty" or "unreasonable" condition. Toilet Cassette not emptied. Fuel tank not filled. Camper returned beyond the agreed time.

Due to exchange rate fluctuations, there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. The owner is not liable for currency variations or bank transaction fees which may be payable.

Repairs  of up to NZ$100 may be affected without authorisation and will be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt, unless it is found that the damage was caused by the hirer. For amounts over NZ$100, the owner needs to be consulted for approval.

Equipment Faults: The failure of accessories such as TV, DVD, CD player, microwave, gas heater, air conditioning unit, hot water heater etc...do not constitute a breakdown. Any problems associated with the vehicle’s equipment, must be reported to the owner as soon as possible in order to give the owner the opportunity to rectify the problem. The owner will endeavour to facilitate on-road repairs. However, should the repair not be possible or fail the hirer is not entitled to a vehicle exchange or compensation.

Road restrictions: JUMBO can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads. Jumbo is not permitted on Skippers Road (Queenstown), the Crown Range Road (Queenstown), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), unsealed ski access roads and at any beaches.

Smoking / Animals: Smoking in the vehicles is strictly prohibited, and offenders will be charged a cleaning fee of $500. Animals are also not permitted in the vehicle and the same fee will apply.

Traffic Infringements: All traffic infringements and unpaid toll charges and freedom camping fines are the responsibility of the hirer and will be deducted from the bond or redirected to the hirer.
